Mauritania is located in the northwest of Africa and is bordered by Algeria, Mali and Senegal and the Atlantic Ocean. It is considered as a transition between North Africa and sub-Saharan Africa. Most of Mauritania is covered by the Sahara desert. In addition to the sand plains, we also find hilly areas in the North. Although Mauritania is not very touristy, it holds many treasures to discover such as many national parks and natural reserves. The best known is the Banc d’Arguin, one of the largest West African parks with its surface of 12,000 km² which is part of the Unesco World Heritage since 1989. Ancient cities like Ouadane, Oualata, Chinguetti, Atar and Tichit open the doors to their historic remains. You can also enjoy the 700 km of the Mauritanian coast of white sand. Mauritania is waiting for you, for unusual and authentic discoveries.
