Nike Art Centre
Nike Art Gallery is an art gallery in Lagos owned by Nike Davies-Okundaye. The gallery is arguably the largest of its kind in West Africa. Housed in a five-storey tall building, it boasts a collection of about 8,000 diverse artworks from various Nigerian artists.
Lekki Conservation Centre
The reserve area which covers a land area of 78 hectare is located on Lekki Peninsula, next to the Lekki Lagoon, and near the Lagos Lagoon. It protects the wetlands of the Lekki peninsula which consists of swamp and savannah habitats. Approaching the reserve, there’s a boulevard of coconut trees which leads to a well laid out car and Visitors Park. It is endowed with an abundance of plant and animal life. Its huge tract of wetlands is set aside for wildlife viewing. Raised walkways enable viewing of animals like monkeys, crocodiles, snakes and various birds. There is also a conservation center and a library. The wetlands are managed by the Nigerian Conservation Foundation, and it now includes a figure-of-eight system of footpaths, with hiking trails and stepping stones to cross waterways.
This is a must do or see if you are not used to African markets. You’ll find a rich variety of crafts from all around Nigeria and West Africa (Benin): this is a brilliant place to wander and look for affordable gifts.
Elegushi beach situated around Ikate area of Lekki is known to offer exquisite restaurants, night clubs, and hangout spots that feature local food, variety of live shows including music and jamborees all week. It also hosts Copa Lagos – a world famous beach soccer tournament that features best teams from all continents.
Cathedral Church of Christ
One of the most beautiful and most historic buildings, The Cathedral Church of Christ is here in Lagos Island. With its foundation being laid in 1867, this church is one of the oldest in Nigeria. Stained glass windows, terrazzo flooring, and its Norman Gothic architectural style, are the iconic features that celebrate this structure and the history and beauty of Old Lagos. The church celebrates its 150th anniversary this year.
