Malawi is an East African country surrounded by Tanzania in the northeast, Mozambique in the east and south, and Zambia in the west. It is a country of 118,484 km², which stretches north to south along Lake Malawi, the latter creating a natural border with Tanzania and Mozambique. One quarter of its territory consists of lakes, including Lake Malawi, the third largest lake in Africa. The country has three other lakes: Lake Chilwa southeast of Lake Malawi, Lake Chiuta north of Lake Malawi and Lake Malombe south of Lake Malawi. People travel to Malawi for its geographical diversity, to enjoy the water activities offered by the clear waters of the Grand Lake Malawi, to walk along the beaches with fine sand in this country so far from the sea, to enjoy the diversity of its wildlife, to admire the look that gives the red earth to the landscape of Mount Mulanje in the Zomba plateau and finally for the hospitality of its people.
