Ethiopia is a country of 1,133,380 km2 located in the Horn of Africa. The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia is surrounded by Eritrea and Djibouti in the northeast, Somalia in the southeast, Kenya in the southwest, and Sudan in the west. Ethiopia is often considered the cradle of humanity. In 2015 the country was voted best tourist destination by the European Council on Tourism and Trade. Indeed Ethiopia hosts on its territory no fewer than nine sites listed as World Heritage by UNESCO such as the churches carved in Lalibela’s rock in Amhara region, or the Simien National Park in the same region. The landscapes of this country in the Horn of Africa offer a wide range of trails for trekking for adventurers. These trails are made of mountain peaks, deep valleys and sharp precipices dropping some 1,500 meters.

Official languages, languages spoken: Since 1994 all Ethiopian languages are official languages. However, Amharic is the working language of the federal government.
