Home of Famed Morna singer Cesária Évora, Cape Verde rests off the Northwest coast of Africa in the Atlantic ocean. The country is an archipelago made up of 10 volcanic islands and is one of 6 portuguese speaking countries in Africa. Nationals of any country can get a visa prior to or upon arrival although a number of countries, mostly in Africa, have visa exemptions.
Like most island nations, Cape Verde is known for its beaches, good weather, excellent seafood as well as its rich musical tradition which was born out of a mix of African, Portuguese and Brazilian influences. Travellers can hop between the islands by way of ferries or small planes.
