With only 45 days left until 2019, I reflect on all the items on my bucket list left unchecked. The one that haunts me the most is “experience something exhilarating”. Not sure what I had in mind when I thought that one up, but with Google to the rescue I found the exact opportunity I was looking for. BUNGEE JUMPING! I am the ultimate adrenalin seeker. Nothing like a good rush of excitement and fear to remind you how amazing life can be and that extra scoop of ice cream is nothing to worry about. The best part? I would get to experience this is on our gorgeous continent!

Soweto, South Africa is home to the Power Swing. The previous cooling towers at the Orlando Power station are now South Africa’s largest mural site. It also doubles as a bungee jumping site. The cooling towers are 33 storeys high, approximately 100 metres which allow for a 40-metre drop! I first saw this on a vlog on Youtube and was sold. After a little more research, I found that Power Swing is open from Wednesday to Sundays, from 10 am to 5 pm and requires booking prior to arrival. Just in case I chickened out, they have a viewing option from the top of the cooling tours.

With bungee jumping on my mind and my browser history, another opportunity presented itself. Bloukrans River Bridge in Tsitsikamma! On either side of the bridge, there are breathtaking views of Bloukrans River and the Eastern Cape. If anyone else is an Amazing Race Australia fan, you might have seen Bloukrans River Bridge on episode 4 of season 1. It is also a celebrity favourite when they visit South Africa. The bridge is 216 metres high and has been operating since 1990 open daily, from 9 am to 5 pm. It is also the current Guinness world record holder for the highest bungee jump! Go big or go home right? Going big it is!

At the moment, I am yet to pack my bags and make way to South Africa, but I cannot think of a better way to kick off 2019!
