Traveling more is on my list of resolutions this year, though this time around, my focus is on what’s in my own back yard. I plan on exploring more of my beautiful country, South Africa, as well as Africa; and hope to not only see beautiful places, but also experience the many different cultures that make those places special.
Love was in the air this past weekend, whether it was with a significant other or one spoiling themselves, and I thought it was only fitting to go out and spend a morning picking some fresh roses for the occasion. I love fresh flowers and I heard about the Chart Farm from my friend Tegan, who is also the beauty behind the camera (read about her HERE), and I don’t think I was ready, cause I was pleasantly surprised to find it was even more beautiful than I imagined.
I must admit to lilies being my first love, but I still felt like a kid in a candy store, with so many different types of roses, in a variety of shades blossoming all around me. And I was even more excited to be able to pick some, to take home with me, even though I got pricked by giant thorns a couple of times.
I know flowers aren’t a thing for every girl …I don’t understand how anyone could not fall in love with such beauty, that smells so sweet, but hey, each to their own I guess. For me, these delicate beauties of nature are just so perfect, each in their own way and though I hate the thorns they have, it’s their way of protecting themselves.
Kind of how we are as people, each beautiful & special in our own way, with our own ways of protecting ourselves in this harsh world.
I hope each and every one of you reading this post start by showed some love and appreciation to yourself this Valentine’s Day, and should you have been blessed enough to have a significant other, I hope the two of you celebrated your love in your own special way.
