In Egypt, we have many treasures and hidden gems as important as the pyramids. Unfortunately, many visitors limit their visits to Giza Pyramids and the Egyptian Museum where there are many other beautiful places they need to discover.
The Madrassa of Sultan Hassan is one of those masterpieces that few know about. The madrassa of Sultan Hassan dates back to the 14th century and it is considered the greatest construction in the Islamic architecture. It used to be a religious school to teach Quran, a mosque and a Bimaristan (Hospital).
On the 100 Egyptian Pounds, you will find on one side the Sphinx of Giza and on the other side the Madrassa of Sultan Hassan.
It is really a beautiful place to see…
Do you know when President Obama visited Egypt few years ago, it was the only Islamic monument that he visited?!
How long does it take to visit the place?
1 – 2 hours
What’s the price for a visit?
40 EGP , one ticket for the madrassa of Sultan Hassan and Rifaie mosque
Will you advice to get someone with you to explain or we do it by ourselves? If they want to know the history behind it, then they can have a guide. If it is only to admire the architecture, then it is not needed
Any lunch or coffee place to go right after?
Not very close, but they can visit the citadel right after. It is very close. Inside the citadel there is a coffee shop and a restaurant with a beautiful panoramic view of Cairo
